The Global Head of VFX will oversee the strategy, workflow and overall creative success of the VFX department. This candidate will represent the VFX team to a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders, managing the team’s workload, priorities and client expectations.

The candidate will be the subject matter expect in understanding VFX across all sectors and come with a vast network of artists. A deep understanding of internal talent and having connections with external resources is a vital part of this role to be able to allocate talent based on briefs that come in.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Responsible for breaking down briefs and bidding visual effects work
• Be a gatekeeper and assess profitability for all incoming briefs
• Suggests efficient techniques to keep bids competitive and minimize unnecessary production/post-production needs and labor
• Determine the correct technical approach based on brief
• Act as the subject matter expert and meet clients along with the sales team and creatives to communicate Edisen’s capabilities according to the brief
• Understand the capabilities and capacities of in-house resources and allocate the right resources to projects, either from in-house team or external resources
• Set budgets and schedules accordingly
• Collaborate with the creative team and design team to understand client requirements, and develops effective solutions that meets those needs.
• Work with the directors, producers, video editors, marketing team, graphics design team, and/or other teams to maximize quality, producing content from concept to completion.
• Lead, manage and develop a team of in-house artist to successfully execute the visual effects a director envisions
• Monitor workload across the team, balancing volume of work with artists’ creative strengths to provide clients with best possible result
• Manage the quality of output from VFX artists and ensure deadlines are met
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends, techniques, and best practices for visual effects
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and participate in hiring, onboarding, training, performance reviews of VFX artists
• Establish, develop and maintain a network of preferred vendors for overflow resourcing.

WHAT YOU NEED 

• Degree in film and television production, computer animation or related field is preferred
• At least 10 years of experience in a creative organization involving visual effects, excellent design, layout, color and composition skills
• Candidate should be a strong native English speaker, to be able to collaborate with stakeholders globally (US, EMEA, APAC)
• Highly organized individual who enjoys the creative process and managing a department/team
• Role model in conflict resolution and ability to provide insight into complex situations for their team
• Proficient in Maya, Houdini, Zbrush etc.
• Strong understanding of lighting principles, color theory, latest techniques in 3D computer graphics
• Firm grasp on filmmaking techniques
• Knowledge of photography to understand the cameras, cinematography and how films are made to be able to influence the shoot for VFX
• Preferably based in US or UK

Salary range: £80K - 120K / USD 100K - 150K annually
